Equipment

  • KitchenAid Shave Ice Attachment (Alternatively - other shave ice device or microplane)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup lime juice (about 4 limes)
  • 2 cups watermelon juice (about 4 cups cubed watermelon)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1-2 cans Sprite (or club soda, topo chico, ginger beer, more watermelon juice, etc.)

Optional

  • 1.5 fl oz tequila or rum of your choice (about 1 shot, or to taste)
  • Mint leaves (for garnish)
  • Lime slices (for garnish)

Instructions

Epicurious Watermelon Limemade Steps

  • Prepare your watermelon juice by blending the watermelon cubes. Strain through a fine mesh sieve.
  • Half and squeeze your limes until you have 1/2 cup lime juice.
  • Combine watermelon juice, lime juice, and sugar. Stir well to combine and dissolve sugar.
  • Pour the prepared watermelon limeade into cleaned KitchenAid pucks (or whatever other container you are using). This recipe made the perfect amount to fit into 3 pucks that came with my KitchenAid Shave Ice attachment kit.

Shave Ice Steps

  • Once frozen, follow your usual steps to make Shave Ice.
  • If using the KitchenAid, take your pucks out of the freezer and let rest for about 5 minutes.
  • Then, using the "Fine" blade, I shaved the ice directly into a glass. (1 puck shaved = about 1 drink -> 3 drinks total OR 0.75 puck shaved = 1 drink -> 4 drinks total)
  • Optionally top with a shot of rum or tequlia.
  • Top off with Sprite (or soda/drink of your choice).
  • Garnish with mint or limes. Enjoy!
