This Peppermint Bark from mint Oreos is an easy and impressive holiday treat. Prep time takes less than 10 minutes, and every single person who tries it is a fan. I even have a friend who doesn’t like peppermint and was super reluctant to taste, but he ended up really enjoying the treat!
Jump to RecipeI like to make a big batch to package as a holiday treat for friends and family. It also makes a great dessert for parties since it is easy to snack on.
Peppermint Bark Ingredients
Another plus – this recipe only calls for 3 ingredients. Amidst the holiday craziness, it is easy to grab what you need and make this to have for later.
- 2/3 pack Mint Oreos (about 24 cookies)
- 1.5 bag of white chocolate chips (about 18 oz)
- Red, green, or holiday themed sprinkles
Peppermint Bark Recipe & Helpful Tips
This recipe is from my mom (who might have gotten it from somewhere else originally!). Here are our trips and tricks.
- Parchment Paper: Seems obvious, but don’t skip it. You’ll use this to pour your peppermint bark mixture on to cool. I use about the same amount of parchment paper that covers a normal sheet tray.
- Don’t over-crush your Oreos: I like big chunks of Oreo for a more dynamic peppermint bark bite. Also, the more you crush, the more crumbs you get and the less vibrant green your bark will be. (It can get muddy or darker colored).
- Ziploc and Rolling Pin: Crush your Oreos in a Ziploc with a rolling pin (or similar item like my mushroom) for easy cleanup and little effort.
- Cut into large pieces: Once your done, cut the bark into large pieces. Then, break into smaller pieces as needed. This gives a more natural look, whereas cutting the bark into small pieces with a knife can look more unnatural and not as pretty.
Storage
The peppermint bark stores really well, but try to use an airtight container or Ziploc. I’ve made it days (sometimes even a week or two) in advance, and it still tastes delicious and fresh!
Peppermint Bark from Mint Oreos
Ingredients
- 24 Mint Oreos cookies (about 2/3 pack)
- 1.5 bags of white chocolate chips (12 oz bags, about 18 oz needed total)
- sprinkles for topping
Instructions
- Place your mint Oreos into a gallon sized Ziploc bag.
- Use a rolling pin or similar to crush the Oreos into pieces (make sure to leave large chunks, picture for reference)
- In a large microwave safe bowl, melt the white chocolate (start with 2 minutes, stir, place back in the microwave and repeat in 30 second intervals until melted completely).
- Once melted and smooth, add your crushed Oreos to the bowl and mix gently. (Leave the tiny crumbs in the bag to keep your bark more green. Don't overmix!)*
- Pour the mixture out onto parchment paper and gently spread in a thick layer (between 1/4" and 1/2").
- Top with festive sprinkles!
- Let cool for at least 1 hour until hard.
- Once cool/hard, cut into large pieces with a knife. Then, using your hands, break into smaller pieces to your desired size.
Notes
- Don’t over-crush your Oreos
- Don’t add all of the tiny cookie crumbs from the bag.
- Don’t overmix
